Just your typical female, lost in various worlds.
Still some straggling geese flying South.

My NaNoWriMo story this year is inspired by Sylvia Plath, who had a collection of her journals published, from the age of 11 or so until her suicide (no, I have no intentions of being THAT inspired by her). In preperation, I dug up all my own old journals, that I've kept for a number of years now. Talk about a trip down memory lane!

My Dad's tattoo of The Artful Dodger, it's amazing looking.
3
My tattoo - it was a graduation present from my mother, she has 9 tattoos, my father has one. I just have one (so far) but I wouldn't mind another one. It's a small one. It's old now, needs to be re-touched some time.
4
My youngest brother Brian, and Moe, the newest addition to my parents house. What a little cutey!
5
My first two months of ShutterCal prints arrived today! Now to get the rest of the months..
6
Winter sunsets are the best. The sky turns dark shades of pink, mixed with the setting sun. So different from our summer sunsets here.

This is the very first pie I have ever made completely from scratch! It's pumpkin, I made the crust from scratch and the filling, from a real pumpkin that I carved! It may be silly, but I'm so proud of myself.

Sun sets again over Ottawa Ontario. Picture not adjusted.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Remember that beautiful view I typically have? Well today this is all I can see. The fog is so thick, I can't see anything at all. No school, not even the street below my 11th floor apartment. It's eerie.
12
Barrhaven Santa Claus parade. I've watched the Toronto parade for 20+ years on tv, but never went to one before. This year was my first year actually watching a parade live, and it was awesome. I felt like such a kid.

Barrhaven Santa Claus parade, my first year attending. This was one of the warmest floats on the street!

Ingredients

    * 1 pound rotini pasta (3/4 of a 16-ounce box)
    * 1/2 cup evaporated milk
    * 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
    * 1 cup crumbled feta cheese or queso blanco
    * 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
    * 1 lime, juiced
    * Salt and freshly ground black pepper
    * 1 cup finely diced ham
    * 1 orange bell pepper, seeded, ribbed, and chopped
    * 1 red bell pepper, seeded, ribbed, and chopped
    * 1 cup frozen peas
    * 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
    * 1/2 cup peeled and chopped jicama
    * 1/2 cup pimento stuffed olives

Directions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta, stir with a wooden spoon, and cook until tender but not mushy, about 10 minutes. Drain, place in a large bowl and set aside.

While the pasta cooks, combine the evaporated milk, oil, feta, cilantro, lime juice and some salt and pepper in a blender. Puree until the dressing is smooth and creamy.

Place the drained pasta in a large bowl. Add the ham, bell peppers, peas, onions, jicama and olives. Pour the dressing over the pasta and gently mix it into the salad. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours before serving.

The Barrhaven Santa Claus parade was at night this year in a 'light up the night' parade. 13th year running, it was my first time attending, and I had a blast.

She's trying to block out the light of my flash, obviously!
17
My parents new kitty, MOE! She is a sweet heart. Adventurous and loves to explore.

... That is one big chocolate bar (the beer is for a roast, I don't drink).
19
Who wants to lick the spoon?! Fudge!

1 2/3 cup granulated sugar, 2/3 cup evaporated milk, 2 tbsp butter, 2 cups miniature marshmallows, 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, 1 tsp vanilla extract.

Line an 8-inch square baking ban with waxed paper, set aside.

Combine sugar, evaporated milk, and butter in saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; boil 4 minutes or until mixture starts to thicken. Remove from heat.

Stir in marshmallows, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract until marshmallows and chocolate melt. Pour into prepared pan, chill until set.

Alternative: stir un 1/2 cup of walnuts, pecans, or dried fruit into melted chocolate mixture (I added walnuts to mine).

I went to EBGames today, and while I already have a LotRO account, was looking at the shelves I happened to spot the LotRO collectors edition for $10! It comes with all sorts of goodies (pictured here) and of course I couldn't pass it up. What a great price!

Blanket progress! It's coming along.. I've decided to pick up crocheting and try to teach myself that. We'll see how it goes!
