A beautiful Saturday morning! Warm and bright and look at that grass come alive as the ground thaws.

Sprinkling this morning. The warm weekend melted all the snow... The church is in downtown Hartford.

Hey, Shuttercal detected that I took this picture in the vertical orientation! Kewl! Or something. Anyway. My morning bus stop is outside this fire house. I noticed a few months back that half the cars parked here were some shade of red, and I had to wonder if firemen just naturally gravitated toward red things. (Our fire trucks are, appropriately, fire-engine red, not one of those greenish-yellow monstrosities. Tradition counts for something around here).

The Atheneum, downtown Hartford. Across the street from the church of a couple days back. They are hosting an exhibition of Rembrant portraits.

I was woolgathering, thinking about something I'd just read in Neal Stephenson's 'Anathem' (my current commute read on my Sony Reader) and missed the bus stop for work. The next stop was in front of St. Joseph's Cathedral, a really massive place I'd love to visit sometime.

I just love the way they built these arched windows. This building is covered with them.

Living next door to a movie theater is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because, hey, movies are a five minute walk away. Curse because this is the most expensive darn theater I have ever attended.

Stuck in traffic in NYC; accident on the Geo Washington Bridge, along with heavy winds and rain.

I'm sorry, Frodo, you can't be a garbageman...

It began snowing heavily RIGHT AFTER I took this picture! I DID get a picture of the snow, but I liked this drain cover better.

It was too cold to take pictures this morning. This picture is from yesterday afternoon, when it was still snowing. The Congregational Church tolls the hour.

One of the nice things about working for a really huge company is the vendors they have in most days to sell cell phone plans or candy or African handicrafts. On the way to lunch this afternoon, I saw this amazing carved elephant. It reminded me of the ones that Dad brought back from Liberia, one for each of us. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it -- I'd give it to my stepmother, but she doesn't want 'more stuff'. Well, the cat has been after it all night.... had to move it :/
