About Me:

Follow me as I feel my way in the light with a new digital camera. Still more comfortable in the dark...and you'll still find me playing with chemicals and b&w film in the dark...but right now I need to figure out this digital age.
This is the story of us for 2009.
1
...but mostly it is about them.
2
Into the Light
McWane Science Museum
Birmingham, AL
3
Chicken out of stock at the commissary, a broken bbq, a determined bunch...Beef...it's what's for dinner tonight.
4
A new haircut...less scraggly...just as ornery.
5
'I skared!' she declared with the squeal of wind squeezing through the cracks of our nearly 100 year old home. Her older sister received a haircut the day prior and that night had requested ragtie curls for her first day back to school. This wee one wanted a special 'do too. One's options are limited with a short cut, so a request for pigtails turned rabbit ears...She was pleased with the results for her much anticipated first day back to school. This girls LOVES school!
6
'I love you,' she said. 'I love you too,' I said. 'I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Avery,' was her reply.
7
Burning some time and energy before heading to school.
8
I love this scene. My daughter eagerly and happily running to school. She loves her school and more importantly her teacher. Through the bushes and to the left and she is there. I love our home and our community. I will be so sad to leave this base!:( I love this age!!! Goofy, loving, independent, eager to learn.
9
Squirrels abound!
This was once a beautiful, long-haired kitten. We had to shave her for medical reasons...poor rat-kitty! Her hair will grow back one day;) She is such a wonderful kitty...fur or no fur! We are grateful to have her in our lives!
10
Today I cleaned floors and bathrooms, did laundry and then went to the gym for some exercise and to take the girls swimming...nothing exciting to photograph...so took some photos of my orchids sitting on my dining room table. Orchids are my favorite flowers! They remind me of home. I have orchids blooming in the house here year round!
11
It was such a long day today! One last kid to put to bed...decided a stupid pet trick was my only option for a photo at this point. So...here you have it. A cat that lives for a plate of yogurt. Her favorite part of the day;) When you walk with the plate she'll attempt to tackle you...cute and annoying at the same time. Good night. Looking forward to tomorrow's less busy day!
12
Another busy day...the girls snuggled in our bed watching a documentary on Inuit survival on PBS as dad was assembling a bumble bee figure from Chick-fil-a. I think I need to actually take a photo BEFORE 7pm tomorrow;)
13
...and the bumble bee daddy assembled the night before was found at our door in the morning. When asked why...it was apparently to keep dad and I in our room because she was sneaking into her sister's room to sleep in the middle of the night. It's hard to disclipine the little bugger because she is so cute...but not that hard! ...little bugger!
14
Actual washing time: 3 minutes and 42 seconds...left to her own devices...a 30 minute shower.
15
My daughter had a playdate with a number of squeally girls today. I think I'll keep this one stored in my attic for safe keeping;) If you recognize her, take your claim ticket to counter #4.
16
Attended an all day crop...this is what was left of my day. This was an early retire...Last month I came home at 5am. Always feel renewed after a day spent with women:) Goodnight!
17
I love me some dork.

So...this is another cheat. I took this on the 21st. But, I couldn't handle the empty spot here on Sunday...and really had to do something with this photo;) Yep...he's a dork...and he's all mine;) Here he is harrassing my daughter by wearing my robe that she bought me for Christmas;) Might I add...he is currently watching a movie still donning said robe and all children that were meant to be taunted with the regal attire are fast asleep;)...snickers.
18
Okay...so I cheated. I took this photo on the 20th. Sunday and Monday we were out and about all day...and all the while my daughter whined that she just wanted to stay home and do nothing (now...mind you...these were trips that included swimming, chuck e. cheese, ice skating...). So...she did just that on Tuesday. I was obviously interupting her nothing.
19
Watching history in the making! She wanted to know if Obama would be her friend:)

When big sister came home in a mood complaining that the day was wasted at school because she had to 'watch Obama come and go all day', her sister chimed in...'It was because it was a very special day today, Skye.'

YES WE CAN!!!
20
A cold, lazy kind of day. Just sneaking up on the kiddos as they were playing:)

My camera's ISO has been set to 3200 for months now. I really need for winter to be over:(
21
On Thursday's we dance!
22
The old Enlisted Club turned dance class venue...and unfortunate location for a photographer...but cuties none-the-less;)

Obviously, photos from yesterday;)
23
There was much pride fulfilling our president's call for community service!

Our Brownie troop headed north to Birmingham to deliver collected pop-tops, donations, and to cook a meal for the 40 residents of the Birmingham Ronald McDonald House. Hearts, and tummies, were full!
24
A trip to Selma, AL with my photog group. A very cold but enjoyable time... as always!
25
Today was our Girl Scout meeting. My husband was home and made brownies for the snack. My youngest 'helped';) Chocolate before we even brush teeth or hair...good parenting 101! Love the baggie drawers too;)
26
We refer to this as the ole c:\ prompt fuck you. I avoid updates...JUST for this reason! I accidentally updated my Lightroom program...and it came with its inherent errors. It also automatically updated Vista...which ALSO came with its obligatory errors!! Fearful I lost everything...I finally found a solution all on my own. I was quite proud of myself;) Damn companies and their updates!!!!

Grrr.... Just so you know...Lightroom is now up to version 2.2 to fix errors that were in version 2.1...nice....
27
I love catching my daughter just reading in bed...I was trying to be sneaky with a photo...but she heard me auto focusing the camera;)
28
A girl and her kitty. (Tattoo not indicative of date photo was taken;)
29
A filler photo...just a photo of my sweetie in Selma...filled with sugary sweetness (literally...from the giant sucker that she scored;).
30
This scene cracks me up. (Excuse the panties.) I left my youngest with the husband all day...and this is what I returned to. Now, mind you...this is at 7pm. Hair was never brushed...nor teeth...house destroyed...but too cute to see them hangin' out together:D (He did say that he got some comments on her hair when he took her to breakfast lol) Tomorrow we clean:S
