The Olympics are over but people are reluctant to let go. Something very powerful has happened in our collective Canadian consciousness, and we are not the same. Perhaps it's ironic, but the slogan for the games was BELIEVE, and it seems Canada has finally come to believe in itself. It was said in the closing ceremonies that when the games began there was the Canada that 'was' and now there is the Canada that 'is'. It will really be interesting to see if this new sense of self can remain and mature as times goes on.

Counting down the days until I can own this baby. Hopefully less than 30. ::grin::

I think I captured the photo I'm going to use as my example of 'Maximum Depth Of Field' for my end of term assignment. If not I sure want to use it for something. Today was a good day for photography, spring has hit Vancouver.

On my way to work I noticed this little piece of public art. I'm not sure how long it's been there, but I'm pretty certain I would've noticed it before. I don't know who creates these little pieces of mystery street art that pop up around town. Wish I knew if it was some government-sponsored program, or if it's random acts of art? I like to think it's Guerrilla Art, because the world could use more people attacking our urban areas with these creative and thought-provoking pieces.

Well, what do you do when you get back from a rainy walk with your camera and find the few photos you did take to be nothing but crap? You take the one with the most potential and you have fun in photoshop. No idea why nothing turned out today, might have been because my camera was set on 100 ISO and it was a dull day?

We worked on portraits in class tonight, still and in motion. My camera is going downhill. ::sigh:: Good thing I'm planning to upgrade in the next few weeks.

So, what IS it about men in cowboys hats?? Never seen a guy who couldn't look sexy in one!

Today was NOT a good day. Rough time at work, and just feeling pretty stressed. Enjoy this cheery close-up of a fuschia magnolia blossom taken last week.

Found my baby photos today!! Had to post one. I'm doing some re-touching in Photoshop, they were stored in albums and we had no idea the albums had acid in the paper and would eat our photos!! Thank goodness for scanners.

Movie Night...playing with attempting a silhouette photo on my iphone camera.
Went to see Alice In Wonderland in 3D last night. Nice use of minimum depth of field in many of the scenes. Some scenes looked like artwork, others like children's book illustrations, and others were strictly Tim Burton all the way. Great art direction.

Another iPhone photo. Was shopping for a new bathroom curtain and rug, when I saw this nice little display.
