It just wouldn't be Christmas in Oz without the Banksia busting out in their huge red blooms. I guess they're the Down Under equivalent to the poinsettia. Found this beauty while walking around the ridge with Willow.

Here's a big ol' Aussi raspberry to today!

The girls and I found our local herd of kangaroo at Cardinia Reservoir. Willow had just pitched her half eaten jam donut on the ground and this joey had a little taste. I don't think he likes jam donuts as much as we do!

The other day Grandad G. told me that lots of reporter/photographer folk take pictures of his Aboriginal dance troop, Bunjil, but they never see any photos. I took about 300 shots for them and passed Grandad a CD and a few choice prints. I liked this one the best.

Our bird Jazzy was attacked by our cat. He had a badly injured leg. When he came home from the Vet's, all he wanted was to be cuddled by my daughter. He would even fall asleep in her bed. This was her little act of kindness.

This is been a very hectic week. It's the last couple of weeks of the Australian school year and both my kiddos are graduating. One from Primary School and the other from Kindy. Yesterday was Willow's kindy graduation and they had a full on graduation ceremony complete with robes, hats and diplomas! They were soo cute!
5
Beautiful Summer weekend. Not a cloud in the sky yesterday. Perfect for picnics!
6
This is a boardwalk in a park behind the house called Birdlands Reserve. Monbulk creek flows through here and if your lucky, you might just spot a platypus or a swamp wallaby.
7
I'm fighting a losing battle with spiders and their webs. All around the back patio, laundry and workshop there are heaps and heaps of spider webs. Every night I forget and run head on into several webs while making a dash to the laundry, usually in my undies!
8
Got bored in the back yard and starting shooting a mangled dandelion from different angles. Here, I held it up directly into the sun. I kinda like the overexposed, frenzied feel.
9
So all the superheros, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Yoda and Superchick were there battling Dr Claw. Dr Claw was going down, no doubt about that. Just as our superheros were about to dispose of Dr Claw, KABLOOY! the evil Sproodleboy bounded onto the scene with kryptoite canine implants and quickly dispatched Superman .... tune in tomorrow to find out if the superheros bounce back and triumph or if Dr Claw and the evil Sproodleboy finally get rid of our heros.
10
And our story continues ... The dastardly duo of Dr Claw and evil sproodleboy thought they had neutralized all of our superheros. However, they underestimated the power of SuperChick. .... stay tuned for the final installment of this exciting saga!
11
With Superchick leading the charge, our superheros found renewed vigor and refused to be defeated. Dr Claw and evil Sproodleboy went under a flurry of capes, underpants worn on top of tights, fake muscles and an assortment of hoods never to be seen again. In the end, they all had Superchick to thank ... she saved the day!
12
Out in the backyard with Willow again today. She blew away all the dandelions however there were a few dandelion flowers still around. I picked this one and took a few shots.
13
Willow came downstairs to ‘help’ me do some home improvement work. She had a red marker with her. She handed it to me “in case I needed” it. I noticed her hands were covered in red marker and I asked if she had drawn all over herself. Of course she denied any such activity. I do believe I caught her Red Handed!
14
Reflection from the bird bath in the back yard. Because the bottom of the bath is rust color, the reflection of the trees has these amazing warm colors.
15
The other day a work colleague got caught in a terrible storm and her umbrella was ripped to shreds. She was throwing it away when I noticed it sitting discarded in the trash can. I retrieved the battered parasol thinking that it would look nice in a photo. Yesterday Willow noticed the umbrella in the trunk of my car and asked what it was. Here's the photo.
16
What is it??

When Juniper was around 9 years old she was a fossil hound. She would spend her pocket money at the fossil store. One day she bought this really cool Theropoda (raptor dinosaur) skull replica. It's made very well and realistic. I found it gathering dust on a high shelf in her room and decided to dust it off and give it a little exposure.
18
Today I was doing some yard work and found 'Willow the Cheeky Fairy' in our maple tree.
19
Half Fairy, half T-Rex = Fairy Rex
20
Free Manure ... yep, got plenty of that to go around!
21
Big Bird, Big Sky.
22
Photo of a large tree decorated for Christmas hanging above our fire place. Merry Christmas!
23
The family went to the beach for a picnic. Juni had a slight flu and we didn't plan on getting wet. However, before I could catch her, Willow plunged head first into the water. Here she's drying out on a landing.
24
At the beach on a beautiful warm day, no wind, no crowds and a picnic. Great way to spend Christmas Day in Oz. This is Willow running down the beach with her boogie board in tow.
25
At 11 years old, Juniper has written her first novel titled 'Ilona By the Sea'. It's an emotional thriller and is about 120 pages long. She's real a writing genius! We're going to try getting it published in 2010. Be sure and look for it on the Bestseller stands!
26
I've had these babies for over 10 years. They've walked a lot of miles and over some pretty rough terrain. The treads starting to fall off. Looks like it's time they retired.
27
Today I went to work. Got there early @8:15. Was surprised no one else seemed to be in yet. Thought it was cause of the holidays. Then, got concerned and looked up VIC public hols and found that today was another holiday. I went back home straight away! But getting up to this each morning makes me feel like everyday is a holiday (until I have to leave for work!). I took this one out of the kitchen window while drinking coffee.
28
We've been hanging around the beach a lot during the holidays.
29
Juniper and I pulled over on the side of the road on the way back home to trample around in the bush. You can see her as the little speck on the left side of the road. This is Sherbrook Forest, about 2 miles from our house.

Tried to take a nice shot of the blue moon on New Years Eve. Didn't get a good moon shot but we end the year with this moon shine over our little valley.
