Photos from June 2009

June 1

Went to Joe's Crab Shack and had crawfish, shrimp, sausage, potatoes & corn for my birthday dinner! It was fantastic...
My 'first of the month' photo of the backyard.
They were riding home as I was driving home...
day 1 of certain sites hiatus is looking good. even if the temptation is so there... rawr. 4 more days to go!

June 2

Wow, was it ever nice to hop into the pool and cool off this evening! I can hardly believe the hot weather we're having so early in June - I hope it's not all gone by the time school finishes at the end of the month!
Vitti had her first guitar recital today! She did good!
found this baby kitten in the ditch this morning. She was soaked and just crying. So sad. She is all dried now and has a full belly. I picked up some kitten formula and a bottle. Didn't realize how hard it is to feed a kitten :)
Endotherm or ectotherm?
I taught a Crockpot Cooking class tonight.
Okay, can anyone guess what this eye belongs to? Tomorrow I will have the full photo.

June 3

Went to the camp JJ (user name: smile4awile) is the Resident Director of. It was my first time there, and it was great to see the places he's been talking about for as long as I have known him.
I played around with Manual focus today. I liked the blur on this one. I haven't met any of my goals for June yet. I may need to go back and delete about half of them. I might have been feeling a bit overly ambitious that day. Darn it.
Carol and Padfoot
so mature.
A dinner party and mexican dominoes.
We spent the evening watching a new film I bought with the HMV couchers I was given for my Birthday
I like Sky Blue; it's a cross between CGI & cartoon animation

This is cute - not my pic.
See Mon 1st June for more details. Can be viewed here in full http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jUfAFDTLtc
Padfoot did not like this stupid shirt:)
My childbirth classroom. It's so exciting!

Holly

I try.....
Local salad made after my visit to the Farmer's Market tonight. Even the dressing is produced locally - from saskatoons!
Even though I didn't take this picture TODAY I had to include it in my PoTD project! I was lucky enough to be able to pay a visit to Connor's Science class (on Wednesday of this week) so I could photograph the week old baby chicks they have in their classroom. They're already getting some feathers in place of the baby fuzz and the teacher said they're at least twice as big as they were a week ago! :) This was my FAVORITE chick of the bunch with those little black marks next to his eyes and the 'mohawk' on top of his head. His name is José! Love how he tilted his little head just as I snapped the picture! he reminds me of Chicken Little! lol

June 6

I got a new haircut.
Checking out the 3-D sidewalk chalk/paint
Sisters ... Me and Mine (3 years apart) and our Brother's two girls (3 years apart)
My neice's 1st birthday. We had her party at my subdivision clubhouse so all the kids could swim.
I went to the Virginia Highlands Summerfest today with Katie and met up with Ryan, Mike D., Staci, Kelli, and Danny there for the Cowboy Mouth concert. Unfortunately I thought the show started at 8:30 but it actually started at 6:30 so Katie and I only saw the last 3 and a half songs, but those songs still rocked as Cowboy Mouth always does.

I think it's time to get another haircut soon. =\
EEL....on the North Side of Grand Cayman
There's nothing spectacular about this car. It was just a last ditch effort to get a picture of something. =\
Today I had a Heritage Maker's workshop. This is a tiny display of the books that we went over. It's fun to do a little digital storytelling now and then. Doesn't take the place of my scrapbooks at all but tells the stories that I want in book format.
My unsuccessful attempt to capture the torrential rains we are having this week.

June 10

We found a huge Dragon fly on our walk
LJ,entrant of magnet photo contest at www.pieces-zine.com
We have a house guest for a few days while we are pet sitting. Her name is 'Nordic Krystal'. Cowboy is in his crate looking at her. Panda is on the left. Miss Krystal will be staying in this huge crate at night and then will go home during the day to her big play pen. She is just 8 weeks old. Both Cowboy and Panda had a fit when they saw a new pup in the house. I have not let them together in the house. She is not big enough to play with the big dogs. I hope Cowboy keeps her company tonight and there isn't whining all night.
i copied ms. menorarose with this layout.
I wanted to get closer but I was afraid they would get scared away, though I suspect they are used to being around people quite often.
Now THIS is a motorcycle (or whatever) I'd give a try.

June 11

My friend, Debbie (front and center...next to me) celebrated her birthday at the bowling alley last night and we were all there to help her! :) Cropcar and HollyM are in this photo, too.
done with classes for the summer! what do we do first? go to six flags! the key is to get there in the afternoon... people start leaving once the sun goes down and it gets chilly. stay until closing, its perfect
Now that we've moved house we don't get a lot of birds visiting anymore. Sometimes I still see butcher birds in the botanical gardens.

Project 365/14 - The digital TV transition

Day 14
12 June 2009
To remember the day when the world switched from analog TV to digital, I snapped a photo of a digital converter box at our friends' house. My oh my, it's large.

Mister Bucky observes Graham's new fish while remembering he hasn't eaten in at least an hour
Wyatt won this hat from the Alex races. He loves it. It's for a driver for a car that he no longer drives. He thinks it's awesome because it's 'vintage'.
Fun on the field - a grade one picnic and a grade four water fight!
Pool Party!
Ambajejus Lake where I spent many days of my childhood. This was my first trip to this lake and my Aunt's camp since she passed away 2 years ago. Big step for me. =P

It has been so hot and muggy out. This is how our windows look at 7:30AM.
There were some ominous looking clouds outside my window at work today. Looking at this picture later, all I see is a bear trying to catch a bee!

Hole of Death!
I had a pair of binoculars and decided to try and see what I could get by putting my camera up to it. This is looking out the window of my cabin that I have all summer.

this is the rock that told us it didn't fucking matter how hard we tried to keep away from trouble.
I was at the dollar store today and found VICTORIA toilet paper - of course I had to sneak a picture.
Madison at her grade 6 graduation.
Last hiking photo from the 22nd. My sweaty (thus slightly cranky) boyfriend. He's in worse shape than I am... but he has way more endurance than me. Probably because he was a jock in high school before he busted his knee.

More of the roses. <3
Spent the day listening to reports of Michael Jackson's death and remembering the impact his songs had on my life. What a tragedy.

WTF!!! Came to have lunch and go hiking with my friends today. My boy is smooth-faced, after over a year of being beard-faced.
tonight I was positively over the moon to have another chance to see these five FANTASTIC men perform (GAWD THEY ARE HOT)!! :) My sister and I made the 5 hour drive to Cincinnati to do the VIP thing. Meet & Greet where we were able to say hey and hug on 5 very HOT, sweaty guys ;) and have our picture taken with them (though last year we were able to actually chat with the guys for a while and get autographs as well... sadly, we weren't able to do that this year). If I was upset about the shorter meet/greet time I was over it when I saw what UNBELIEVABLE seats we had... 4th row IN THE PIT! It was the most AMAZING concert ever!!! Unfortunately, before the show both mine and my sister's cameras were confiscated for supposedly breaking some camera rule, even though I read my VIP paperwork and MEASURED MY LENS before I left the house to make SURE it wasn't too long. :( Long story short, we argued and complained (ok... my sister argued and complained while I just cried) to a number of people which got us exactly nowhere! So we sat through this ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity without a single photo to show for it!! I was completely heartbroken! :( Thankfully a few AWESOME women seated in our row have offered to share their pictures with us. So even though we didn't take the photos ourselves, we'll still have some pictures to remember the experience. :) Seriously... I will NEVER forget this and I am crossing ALL my fingers and toes that they tour again next year! I'm not ready for this ride to end yet! ;) I will be posting a handful of my favorite pictures (from both tonight's concert and the one in Detroit on Thursday night) for the next week because frankly, I just want to relive every minute for as long as I possibly can. ;) This photo of Jordan Knight makes me completely weak in the knees!! Oh how I LOVE those dimples of his!!! and his voice. mmmmm That is one SERIOUSLY sexy man!!
Weird sky in Brooklyn
Jamie Made me a Birthday Pie!
Saturn weekend at Royal Observatory Greenwich. Didn't realise that I'd got the statue of General Wolfe (on the far left) in.

she reminds me so much of that cat in the get fuzzy comic.
I didn't have time to grab my tripod while this storm ripped overhead, but I did get this shot of the lightning show making it look like daytime for a few seconds.
This wasn't technically the 29th, but fuck it. It counts.
