I got a new frame and I filled it with my favorite pictures!
Paul is a HUGE Huskers fan. Today Madi picked out all by herself Trey's old Husker jersy that Paul bought for him. Ironically enough, it fits Madi perfectly right now. So, we had a little Husker photo session in our kitchen today!

Project 365/34 - Seattle sunset

Day 34
2 July 2009
We went to a cookout tonight and the couple hosting the cookout have a balcony with an incredible view. Ideally it would have been nice to have my 5D Mark II with me, but I think the D-Lux 4 did a pretty nice job capturing the colors of the sunset.

Note: the little specs in the photo were actually birds of some sort.
Some flowers for ya=)!

not looking so hot right now
I went down to Rehoboth, DE for the night to listen to the United States Navy Country Current, the Armed Forces country music ensemble, watch the fireworks, and generally hang out with my friend Erinn. The beach was so crowded with people! Where we sat, next to a shed full of umbrellas and whatnot, nearly obscured our view of the fireworks -- when they started, everyone who was sitting right next to it migrated ten feet over, while the lifeguards on top of it were sitting happy. Awesome fireworks at my cousin Jimmy's farm.

Heading to Wolfeboro NH on my return trip from Stonington, Deer Isle, Maine I stopped at the Causeway Beach that is between Little Deer Isle and Deer Isle. There were a few Jellyfish that were washed up on the stony beach.

OMG! ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!! It took a lot of parenting to keep these girls in our yard to wait for the ice cream truck to come to us rather than chasing him 10 blocks over;) lol And then within minutes of it stopping at our house...20 kids descended in our yard from everywhere to place an order lol. Free ice cream truck day! AWESOME! We don't want to move!:(

7.13.09 - day 193.

I just love to wear red! For the past 2 years, even though my favorite color is green, red is my favorite color to wear by far. In fact, I especially love to wear red accessories. I have these red heels (which have been in my shoe shots before) and I had a red purse that I had for almost 2 years. That purse got too icky to use anymore and I sought out a new one. At first I was just going to go for a black purse that I found on the Net, but I couldn't do it. Now that I have carried a red purse around for so long, I had to have another one. I'm telling you, there is something about red accessories!

Anyway, this is my new red purse that I found on eBay...love that place! It saved me from having to go to a thousand stores, which is what I did to find my first red purse. I also have a thing for Guess purses (don't worry, I never pay full price...it's all about their outlet store or eBay). :) I <3 carrying this around. You can't see it here, but it is a monster. One of my friends calls it a suitcase and I give her a dirty look for it everytime. But she wasn't saying that the one day she wanted me to carry a water bottle and another large item to get into the movie theater. So, she then digressed and told me it is a very beautiful suitcase. Pfffft.

7.14.09 - day 194.

I know this looks really random and it doesn't exactly jive with the rest of my photostream, but there's a good reason! My photography meetup group had a meeting tonight about photographing animals. We have a member who does it for a living in her house and she taught us all about her tips and such.

It was the first time I got to use an actual photographer's setup with the lighting, filters (explains the pink background), a backdrop, etc. But we couldn't have real animals in the building we were allowed to use, so we used this stuffed teddy bear and a few other items.

The good news is, someone let me use their 300 lense!!! See, I don't even remember what to call it. I couldn't zoom in enough without getting the lights in the foreground and she also had a Canon. It was sooooooo aweome! Just another thing to remind me of how much I want and NEED one. Loved it!
Throughout the year I have been trying to find my 'style' and although I still cannot put my style in a category, I have started seeing some similarities in my pics. My favorite pics have at least some of the following in common... 1) sun flare. I love me some sun with a rainbow trail. I love to angle the camera around and get those pretty rainbow rays. 2) I love color. I don't think I'm a black and white kind of girl. I might like it more if my B&W conversions were better. 3) Although I try the to follow that rule of 3rds thing, I much more prefer pics that do not. I suppose I should't admit that. 4) I love pics looking up (or down) on the subject. 5) Oddly, I like distortion. Not on every pic but for whatever reason it draws me in.
So, I guess all the above will play into my style. They all kind of make it sound like I like imperfect pics. I'm sure it will change as I learn new techniques and get bored with my 'style' (which will happen often). At least there is something developing here. :)

My 12-year-old, Jill, has been showing an interest in photography, so I sent her on a 'photo assignment' today and when she came back, I was showing her around Lightroom. She was quite taken with the possibilities, got into some of my pictures, and came up with this. I thought it was pretty neat!

The man child has a mutant foot! This photo doesn't really do it justice, it looked awful. He couldn't get into a shoe. All this was thanks to an insect bite. Had to take him to the doctors and he ended up on antibiotics.

I went with Katie tonight to see the gloATL production of rapt which is an interpretive dance performance. It was interesting to say the least. Afterwards we went by Chastain to catch the end of the Chris Isaak concert that Tanner was working, so of course that was free. We got there just in time to see Chris Isaak singing onstage with Michelle Branch and then probably 5 or 6 songs more after that.
Toby pointed to my closet and asked 'I wear a big shirt?' so I let her wear my Wonder Woman shirt.
