This is a tile I burned on my laser today. The pic is of a walker on the Camino de Santiago, she was in Burgos. I was reminded of it after hearing about the bombing there last week.

My husband Charles with my son Brendan
My niece. I've held the camera up to her face and coached her to smile so much that she was screaming at me until I picked up the camera. As soon as I did, she stopped screaming and smiled!

Story time with Daddy!
Missed a day for taking a pic, so I'm continuing with my tradition of having to do some sort of 'art' to fill in the day, ha. So this is....um...it's this! ta'daaaa!!!! rofl
Hiding in the bushes.
A cage attachment we bought for Emmette, but he hated, I hated it, Lee hated it... we all hated it! And it didn't fit properly, so we took it back!

3rd day @ Bangor Maine..
So the other week on Woot they had this 12 DVD set of MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000), and even though I can't afford it I couldn't resist...little did I know what it would mean...ha...SO...they arrived today, and I discovered that one of the DVD's is a movie called Laserblast, and it was apparently thee last MST3K show shot, which in itself is cool...but what just turned it into an amazing find is that I remember as I kid, like a little little kid, one of the weekends my dad came to pick me up (he only had me every other weekend), I probably was only like 6 or so, maybe less, maybe more, not sure, but a few times I remember getting to stay up late as we went to the drive-in theater (http://www.ruskinfamilydrivein.com/), and this one time there was this cheesy sci-fi movie that the ONLY thing I could remember about it was this guy, with this huge gun stuck on his arm, was stumbling across the desert...and low and behold, the opening shot of this movie, was just that! Not only do I have the answer to the 30+ year old question of what in the hell was that movie, but I've also got the MST3K version of it, hee, can you say cherry on top?
Lots of fun shots from the spray park today, but of course this has to be my very favorite. 'I'm no Mama's boy, but boy I sure do love my Mama!' - unknown

August 12

They claim LA will sweep the series...but they thought wrong. SF Giants win 4-2. so much for the Dodgers sweeping the series. :)
My attempt to sew some cloth napkins. A friend who is very good at sewing came out to show me how to do them. I tried bribing her with a case of wine if she would do them for me. No luck with that one. I guess I will just have to make the sewing machine be my friend.
The new-found love of my life!!! Chloe's Converse in MY favourite colour ... so glad my daughter is growing up!

Although our plans were to move on in the morning, we decided that this campsite was too good to leave in a hurry, so we stayed for another night. Despite the gloomy forecasts, we had lovely sunshine and enjoyed exploring a small island nearby. I love the ocean!
I let my 2 year old play with the curves on this one...

August 13

Squares first time swimming! It was hot, hot, hot so she needed the cool down (she had been cursing her gma and gpa for their lack of air conditioning)!
boy was today an adventure. Carter and I were planning to go to the park but plans changed when I got home from work. I walked into the laundry room and found myself standing in the middle of a big puddle, apparently coming from the hot water heater! A little back story: about a week ago I stepped in a small wet spot on the living room carpet. I figured one of the kids or dogs did it and attempted to clean it up. Over the course of the next few days the spot got bigger and bigger. I SOAKED at least 20 towels trying to clean it all up and then went out and got a portable carpet cleaner which I used to suck 9 CANISTERS FULL of liquid from the carpet. I could NOT figure out what the issue was. Even with a fan blowing on it for two days straight and using the towels and the carpet cleaner the floor would NOT dry. Fast forward to today and I realized the spot was MUCH bigger than I thought. On the other side of the living room wall, whatever malfunction the water heater had, it spit out GALLONS of water that soaked through the wall and into about an 8 foot square area of the living room carpet. LOVELY. Thankfully we live in a rental... so I called maintenance and they sent some carpet guys who came and sprayed some stinky crap, sucked up the water and left this HUGE floor fan that I need to leave running for the next 3 days! It's like a constant hurricane in my living room. All the blinds are blowing around and I have to wear a sweatshirt because the breeze gets so chilly! They'll be back on Monday to treat the carpet again and we'll see where things go from there. It may not work since so much of the carpet and the pad underneath were soaked for who knows how long.
There's nothing sexier than dumpster lingerie.
Sleepover at our house! With all the kids gone & Jes & Kevin off to Wisconsin, the dogs are ruling the roost this weekend.
Notice that she has on her softball uniform. She was so excited to get it at practice today that she had to change in the car. She even slept in it tonight.
Another view of Sanibel Lighthouse.

It was hot in the sun today! The pool was just so inviting for these old bones.

Day 4 of Julia's visit - we were on the bus from the Robot Zoo into town when I got a phone call from my Dad in NZ to say that my nephew had been born :)
Staying Cool:Today was a hot one and keeping cool was hard to do - especially if you have four legs and are covered in hair. I was eating a strawberry yogurt pop and Cotton just knew it was way more interesting than his bowl of ice water and pile of ice cubes. So, he may have had a few licks......

August 18

Cubby.
Here's the final piece, pre thrusters being placed on it. I've been working on it all week, a little bit each night while I devour the shows on my DVR.

Had a blast!
A big day for our family - my parents sold us their '93 Ford Explorer for the boys to drive (They will pay the insurance)! Woo hoo! I never ever planned to buy a car for my children, but it sure beats having them drive our vehicles. Not only that, but we are technically the owners, which means POWER for us!

Wednesday last week, I was chatting over dinner in the kitchen with Gwen, who works in shipping for Dharma Publishing, about how she ended up in the Shipping room. Her response: 'Do you want my job?' Um ... sure! Turns out she's leaving in a few weeks and DP's been looking for someone to take up her position. So, as of today, I'm officially switching from the Yeshe De Text Preservation Project over to Dharma Publishing to get trained as the new shipping girl! (See the little 'Shipping' logo on the red door at the bottom right? That's the entrance to the shipping cave.) (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
checked out a new grocery store with oddly narrow aisles and saw Inglourious Basterds after dinner... interesting movie!

While out to eat dinner with my Dad, it rained a great deal only to be followed by a huge rainbow. Sadly, I didn't get home until the majority of it had faded, but it's still there if you squint.

This is my daughter in my niece's art store.
had the hardest time sleeping this morning... between the cat acting up, the heat, not being comfortable...if it wasn't one thing, it was another.
My camera's internal memory seems to be corrupted so it isn't storing the camera settings anymore. This, in my opinion, provided me a perfect excuse to get a new camera which I've been wanting to do for a while now. So fittingly enough, the possible last picture-of-the-day ever taken with my old camera is a picture of my new camera.

postcard

Q- How much text can these postcards hold?
A- 500 characters. That's about 3 average size paragraphs.

Q- I noticed I can write more than the actual area on the card, how does that work?
A- The text area on your screen is slightly different then the print area of the actual card. Don't worry, your
message will fit on the card completely intact.

Q- Will the card include a link to my original photo?
A- Yes. Take a look in the lower right corner of the card. A link to your calendar and the image you are sending will be included there.

Q- How comparable are ShutterCal postcards to the look and feel of traditional postcards?
A- Honestly, ShutterCal postcards are superior to the average card you'd find in a store. They are printed on thick premium paper with top quality inks. They also have a beautiful glossy finish that makes the image pop while adding a extra layer of protection to the photo.

Noteable Notes:
Postcards go through the riggers of postal system!
These are high quality images passing through the crazy mail sorting machines of the world. Your cards are going to look great, but keep in mind that they are going to get stamped, postmarked, and handled. It all adds to the characteristics that make postcards great!

Postcards have unpredictable delivery times:
We did some tests and are amazed by the results! You could see your postcards reaching their destinations within 3 days! Other times your cards can take 2+ weeks to arrive ...postcards are just crazy like that.

Postcards are fun, but customized postcards are amazing!:
Your photography changes everything! It's always been neat to send or receive a postcard, but your photo instead of a default stock image is going to add an impressive amount of fun.
